What archers are you using that are pointless though? Low level ones, yeah useless but Sharpshooters, Elite elves, and heavy crossbows will murder that initial charge. This game could have been a lot deeper if the AI was even half way competent. Wasn't implying you didn't know how to play Taco, and as I stated I do feel your pain.

when my army has spawned and are in one big pile of people. im quite experienced when it comes to tactics ) but the problem is that it isnt fun fighting when the enemy just charges right at you in every single fight. My archers tend to eat 80% of them before they ever reach me. Unless it is a large cavalry force those first few to reach you are just suicides. Honestly, it seems like you are worrying a bit to much about the initial contact. Tight bunch 5 rows to take cavalry charge, then use tactics based on rest of enemy mix.Īs I said its not ideal and takes a lot of the goodness that could have been out of it but it is effective. As long as you have them set up correctly on your management screen, ie shields on top the list, its just a matter of pressing 2 buttons when the battle starts to get your troops in the shield wall formation you want.
